AUCKLAND HERITAGE FESTIVAL
18th September 2010 to 3rd October 2010
We always have a fabulous response during the Auckland Heritage Festival to our popular "Afternoon Tea and Tour of a late Victorian Townhouse" . Our event will be held at 3:00pm every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday throughout the fortnight of the festival and this year will include a tour of Official Bay. Bookings will be essential. We celebrate the tradition of taking time to sit and take tea with friends. All of the food we serve is based on traditional New Zealand recipes from the iconic Edmonds Cookery Book and the serving dishes themseves are traditional bone china cake and sandwich plates you would have expected to see in your grandmother's house. The afternoon includes a tour of the house and a talk about the history of the area in which we live. The early settlers called this part of Auckland "Official Bay" because it was colonised by Government Officials , the Governor himself living in the big house at the end of the street. The photographs and prints on our walls give an insight into what Auckland was like during the late 1800s. We are now booking for 2010 ; bookings can be made by emailing us at braemar@aucklandbedandbreakfast.com or calling us at +64 9 3775463
